Anne Mattay lives in Lindisfarne (a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia), and is a reference librarian at the State Reference Library, Tasmania, Australia. Her career in libraries, mainly in the reference area, began in 1978.

She has a B.A. majoring in French and Philosophy, with First Class Honours in French from the University of Tasmania, and a post-graduate diploma of Librarianship.

Her interests, apart from the professional one of information services and delivery, include traditional Irish music (which she plays on the accordion), and music in general, especially popular music from the '60s to the '80s, a diverse range of historical subjects and (inevitably) reading. She is a dog-lover, a strong believer in the therapeutic effects of humour, and married to Phil Wardle, moderator.
